1. How Much Are Coloured Contacts
How much coloured contacts are can vary for duration and design. For example, at Coloured Contacts the price of contact lenses is £5.99 to £14.99.
Please note these prices are subject to change and are only advised as a guide.
Halloween lenses range from £7.99 to £12.99 depending on the duration. Daily lenses generally cost £7.99 while 30 day and 90 day lenses cost £12.99. There are a few exceptions to this, for example, mini sclera styles.
At Coloured Contacts you may also find some funky styles in our sale at a discounted price. Alternatively, you can shop using our multibuy discounts, which is especially handy if you regularly use coloured contact lenses.
If you are looking for natural styles, then there are several levels of coverage type which determine the price. This ranges from £5.99 to £9.99.
2. How Much More Do Coloured Contacts Cost Than Regular
Generally, coloured contacts cost more than regular contact lenses because they are used for cosmetic and beauty purposes. However, unlike regular contact lens sellers, coloured contacts websites sometimes have discount sales.
The reasons for the extra costs can be due to a few different factors. The first is that colour contacts generally cost more to manufacture due to the addition of colour pigments to the surface of the lens.
Secondly, as you will know if you regularly shop online, buying in bulk reduces the price for the manufacturer. Since people tend to buy larger quantities of clear prescription contact lenses they are cheaper. Buying a one-off coloured contact lens design will, therefore, be more expensive for the seller to pack and send.
Thirdly, if you are purchasing a lens that is both designed to correct vision and change your eye colour, i.e. prescription coloured contacts, then the manufacturer must increase the number of processes needed to make the coloured contact lenses. They must first ensure they have an accurate RX power and then must add the colour pigment.
3. How Do I Get Coloured Contacts
There are a number of websites and stores where you can purchase coloured contacts but it is important to know what to look out for in a pair of coloured contact lenses. You must consider the safety of the lenses above the design.
If you want to get coloured contacts you must check with your optician that your eyes are suitable. Next, find a retailer that sells FDA approved contacts lenses.
FDA approved contact lenses mean that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has certified that the contact lenses being sold are fit for purpose. Since coloured contact lenses are considered to be medical devices, in America they must go through rigorous safety checks. To read more about our FDA approved contact lenses, click here.
4. Can I Get Prescription Coloured Contacts
Many retailers, including Coloured Contacts, stock prescription coloured contact lenses with the same designs as their more common non-prescription equivalent.
This means you can wear a prescription style instead of your glasses or regular contact lenses to benefit from clear vision and a colour change.
Wear prescription lenses for a Halloween or fancy dress party, or explore our natural range for a subtle colour switch. See the full prescription section, here.
5. What Would I Look Like With Coloured Contacts
You want to know what you would look like with Coloured Contacts because the coverage can vary depending on your natural eye colour.
When you try coloured contacts, the way you will look will depend on a variety of factors including your eye colour, skin tone and makeup.
Think about your eye colour and the coverage of the lenses you are choosing. Naturally dark eye colours can be harder to fully cover, whereas light eye colours don’t have such strong colour pigmentation.
If you would like to see how you will look when wearing any of the coloured contacts lenses then simply upload a picture to the virtual mirror, here. You can then do a virtual try on of the style you like.

6. Are Coloured Contacts Safe
Coloured contacts are safe as long as correct cleaning and safety procedures are followed. It is also important to get a check from your eye doctor to confirm your eye suitability.
If you would like to know more about contact lens safety, then please see our Care Guides. These also include information about preparing your contacts lenses, cleaning your lenses and other related equipment such as cases, and information about RX checks.
Every customer that shops with coloured contacts agrees to our customer disclaimer which lays out some of the reasons for advising against wearing contact lenses. If your eyes are normal and healthy, you are above the age of 18, and you have confirmed the suitability of the lenses you would like with your optometrist then with the right care you should experience no problems with coloured contact lenses.
7. Are Daily Contacts The Same As Monthly
There are some differences between daily and monthly contact lenses, aside from the duration you can wear the lenses.
Daily lenses are usually softer because they do not need to be as durable as monthly contact lenses. This means the material can vary as well as the water content percentage.
Daily lenses simply mean one-use rather than ‘to be worn every day’. This means the way you care for your lenses will differ from using monthly contact lenses. Between uses, monthly lenses will need to be cleaned and stored in fresh contact lens solution, whereas daily styles can be disposed of in your household waste.
Any duration of coloured contact lenses needs to be prepared in the same way by soaking the contact lenses in fresh solution. For more information please refer to our guide on how to prepare your contact lenses.
8. How Long Does One Box Of Contacts Last
The duration of a box of lenses will depend on the style of contacts you have chosen. Here is a breakdown of some of the most common durations stocked on the coloured contact website.
Daily Single Box (Pair) |
1 Day |
Monthly Single Box (Pair) |
30 Days |
Tri-Monthly Single Box (Pair) |
90 Days |
1 Year Single Box (Pair) |
365 Days |
10 Pack (Singles) |
5 Days Of Daily Lenses |
It is important to note that the duration begins from the time you open the contact lens packaging and refers to consecutive days rather than days of use. For example, if you opened a pack of 1 year lenses, they would expire exactly one year from that date, i.e. 1st April 2019 to 1st April 2020, rather than giving 365 days of wear.
