How To Put In Contact Lenses For The First Time
If you are wearing contact lenses for the first time, there’s no need to be nervous. Our top tip is to give yourself plenty of time to try it, so you aren’t under pressure to insert your contact lenses by a certain time. The key to inserting coloured contact lenses is making sure the lenses are hydrated and placed in the eye the correct way around. Unlike clear contact lenses, it can be easy to tell which way coloured contacts are meant to be worn by looking at the brightness of the colour. The best trick to use, if you are unsure, is to check the shape of the lens. If it makes a smooth U shaped bowl when placed on the tip of your finger rather than a V shaped bowl with a lip at the top, it is the correct way around. How to Wear Contact Lenses
This year, we have a new Halloween coloured contact lenses inserting video featuring @makeupmadhouse in her Sally makeup. This video shows how to insert blind effect contact lenses. You can use the same technique as any other contact lenses but you will need to be able to remove the contact lenses without being able to see your eye. Make sure you are confident with this before you try wearing blind lenses. Practice by placing one blind effect lens in your eye and removing it again, leaving the other eye free to see.

How To Put In Contacts Without Blinking
If you find that you blink or shut your eyes when you are inserting contact lenses try using a technique like @courtneyleighhollins in this video. Holding your upper eyelid open with one hand and inserting your contact lenses with the other can help keep your eye open until the lens is on. You can also try looking up so that the eye you are inserting the lens into is not trying to look at the lens and anticipate it touching the eye.
Similarly, if you find that the lens does not stay on your eye once you have placed it on then you can try placing the eyelid over the lens, like @ladyparadoxx. She also uses a couple of extra drops of solution in the lens to help hydrate it and keep it on the eye. If you continue struggling to keep the lens on your eye, hold it in place for a few seconds before closing your eyelid to allow the solution and your eyes’ natural moisture to help hold the lens in place.
If the lens still does not stay on your eye, make sure you have checked that the measurements match your eyes. Even for non-prescription lenses the base curve and diameter need to match your eye measurements to ensure a comfortable fit that stays in the correct position on the eye.
