First up, @mua_sophie_sfx has recreated the yarn makeup look using white yarn to create creepy doll-like makeup. Sophie has opted to darken the sides of her face and eyes and applied her yarn all around her face. She has added pink blush on the cheeks, blood-red lips and dark eyes to create a sinister doll look. With the final touch, our Reaper Contact Lenses, this look is complete!
@ladyparadoxx has also jumped on the trend with her own spooky yarn makeup creation. Using our Black & White Cross Coloured Contact Lenses, Monica has chosen large lashes and a 1920s wig to embody a spooky flapper girl.
Affiliate @charrar.b has also taken part but has added even more details to her look. Char has not only used yarn on her face but has also extended the yarn to cover her shoulders and chest too! By using yarn on her body, Char has mimicked the contours of her shoulder and chest to create a natural appearance to her look. With our Green Yellow Fusion Contact Lenses, this look is reminiscent of a painting! @charrar.b has added the finishing touches with a green wig, pink and purple eyeshadow and red lipstick on top of the yarn.
Another affiliate who has chosen the natural route is @justjaimehansell. Jaime has recently joined our affiliate scheme and has created this natural yarn makeup as one of her first creations. With the help of our Pixie Pink Coloured Contact Lenses, Jaime has created an uncanny yarn makeup with a glamorous touch. With lined lips and dual-toned eyeshadow, this look truly marries the yarn trend and glam makeup in one.
As fun as this makeup is, it’s just as satisfying watching her unravel the look!
There are so many possibilities when it comes to the yarn makeup trend. You’ve seen the creepy and the glamorous but what about cosplay?
@justjaimehansell has created an Avatar movie-inspired yarn makeup. Using the flesh-coloured yarn, Jaime has painted over the fabric in blue tones from her makeup palette to embody the Na’vi. This mashup is super effective and with our Hulk Green Contact Lenses, the look is really brought to life!
Another super cool yarn makeup trend is reverse yarn makeup. Reverse yarn makeup works in a similar way but instead of applying wool to your whole face, you apply it to specific areas and paint over the top. When the yarn is then removed, a pattern is revealed.
@felicialewisxo has used the
reverse yarn technique with this neon makeup look but used liquid latex instead of yarn. By first applying the liquid latex to the face and then painting over the top of it, the latex provides a contrast when it is removed. Check out how Felicia has crafted this bright and colourful look here:
Our Pink UV i-Glow Contact Lenses glow brightly under blacklight and compliment Felicia’s neon makeup. If you fancy recreating this look at home then be sure to check out our UV face and body paint and liquid latex by Paintglow and add our UV Coloured Contacts to your look.
For @felicialewisxo’s second iteration of the
reverse wool makeup trend, she has opted for metallic rose gold face paint and created a geometric print with liquid latex to achieve a contrast. Our
Galaxy Purple Contact Lenses offset this makeup and add to its futuristic vibe.
Remember, when participating in this makeup trend, it is important that you use products such as sfx glue, spirit gum and liquid latex safely. Be sure to avoid using these products around the eyes and mouth to avoid irritation. It is imperative that you follow the manufacturer's guidelines when using such products and be sure to prep and care for your skin in between uses.
