What to wear to an anime convention?

It can be tricky to know what to wear to a convention. Whilst it's perfectly okay to dress in your casual, everyday clothes, conventions are a great place to really express yourself and pay homage to your favourite character. Here are just some ideas of what you can cosplay at your next convention:

  • Animated/Cartoon Characters
  • Movie Characters
  • TV Show Characters
  • Book Characters
  • Game Characters
  • Anime Characters

Talented affiliate @charrar.b has created this Sally Stitches cosplay using body paint, coloured contact lenses and a red wig. Would you be brave enough to wear body paint at your next cosplay event?

Nightmare Before Christmas Sally is a great place to start if you’re new to cosplay. You could create your own stitched dress or find one at your local costume store. Then, add a red-coloured wig and blue body paint to create her skin tone. Our White Coloured Contact Lenses are a great option to recreate Sally’s eyes but @charrar.b has opted for our Grey Contact Lenses to create a more realistic and melancholy appearance for her Sally cosplay.

There are plenty of options for movie character cosplays that you can choose from. @aleyshamacquade_mua has created this impressive Mad Hatter cosplay from Alice in Wonderland and we are in awe. Using our Mad Hatter Green Contact Lenses to add the finishing touches to this look, Aleysha has truly captured the essence of Tim Burton’s Mad Hatter. Whilst Aleysha has used body paint to create the Hatter’s outfit, you could easily become the Mad Hatter with a brown suit and hat, adding white face paint and a ginger wig to complete the ensemble.

@riannashah has also opted for a movie character cosplay with her Ghost Rider costume. Ghost Rider is an iconic film and our Flame Contact Lenses fit perfectly with this look. Rianna has painted a skull on her face using black and white face paint and has used her own leather jacket to style this look. Find all of our character lenses in our costume contact lenses section

You’ll find lots of attendees wearing cosplays of their favourite game characters.

@charrar.b has created a Katarina cosplay from the League of Legends video game. Charr has chosen the Masque of the Black Rose appearance for Katarina in this League of Legends cosplay. The beauty of game character cosplay is that the characters often have multiple looks from different expansions and universes which make them excellent choices for cosplays at conventions.

Char has paid attention to the tiny details of this League of Legends Katarina cosplay from her scarred face and piercing green eyes achieved with our Natural Green Contact Lenses. We have a range of green styles to choose from including Enhancing Green, Costume Green and Natural Green lenses.

Book character cosplay allows you to add your own touch to a character’s appearance. Books often only give snippets of a character's description, allowing you to interpret or embellish their characteristics. If a character’s hair or eye colour isn’t mentioned, this is a great opportunity to use our coloured contact lenses! @carlaa.cosplay has chosen to cosplay Nesta Archeron from the hit fantasy series A Court of Thorns and Roses. Nesta is described as having blue-grey eyes in the novel so Carla has opted for our Pearl Grey Contact Lenses. Other options for Nesta Archeron cosplay include Grey Blue Tri-Tone, Blue Grey Two-Tone Circle, Elven Blue, or Wild Blizzard.

Comic book cosplay is a great option for those superhero-loving fans. @sallyquinncreations has created a series of X-Men comic cosplay using body paint and coloured contact lenses. Check out this Phoenix X-Men cosplay from the #137 Uncanny X-Men edition from 1980. Sally’s use of our Mesh White Contact Lenses gives this character an intense but effective appearance.
