Carrie’s Jack Skellington makeup is completed in white, black and grey tones so you won’t need many shades of face paint to complete this look. In fact, you can create your own grey tones by blending your white and black face paint in a separate pot.
The trick with this Jack Skellington makeup is to make sure you keep the colours separate. Create a bright white chest and face then add detailing around the eyes and mouth. To create his bone neck, you can add black paint on either side of the white middle panel to create the illusion. This is a quick and effective way to upgrade your easy Jack Skellington makeup.
In this look, Carrie has painted on Jack’s clothing but if you want to keep it simple Jack Skellington makeup then you can buy a costume or DIY an outfit from an old suit. Jack’s necktie is an iconic part of his costume so paint it onto your chest, make your own out of cardboard, or buy an accessory to customise.
For her Jack Skellington face paint, Carrie has started with a bald cap. It is essential to cover your hair to create an accurate Jack Skellington face. The triangle nose is a signature style of Tim Burton’s animations so you can create lots of different characters with this type of nose. Blank out your eyebrows and create dark circles around your eyes to simulate Jack’s eye sockets. To enhance the illusion of empty eye sockets, Carrie has added Black Coloured Contact Lenses to change the colour of her iris. Our classic Black Blackout Coloured Contacts or Black Mini Sclera Coloured Contacts are a great choice for achieving this style.
Where would Jack be without Sally? Whether you adore Sally or want to create a couples costume that was simply meant to be, Sally Stitches makeup is fun to try out. Again, Carrie has created a complete body paint of Sally but you can opt to buy or make her dress yourself. For this look, you will need plenty of blue body paint as well as a second colour such as dark blue, black or purple to create her stitches. Sally’s red hair is an important part of this costume. This can be achieved by either temporarily colouring your own hair or wearing a wig.
To begin your Sally Nightmare Before Christmas makeup, paint your face and skin blue. To complete the illusion make sure to cover any skin that will be on show such as the arms and chest. Next, draw on your stitches in your chosen colour. Finally, add red touches to your Sally character such as lips, eyebrows, and rosy cheeks.
One of Sally’s most prominent features is her large eyes with very small pupils. To create this large white sclera and iris you can try white coloured contact lenses. For her Nightmare Before Christmas Sally makeup, Carrie has chosen the White Blind Coloured Contact Lenses but if you would prefer not to obscure your vision then styles such as White Halloween Lenses and White Mini Sclera Lenses are equally as effective in creating Sally’s eyes. To exaggerate the eyes even further add false eyelashes or draw on eyelashes.
We hope you are feeling inspired to create your own Sally and Jack Skellington costume. If you can’t get enough of Tim Burton’s art style then make sure to check out our series of blogs for makeup inspiration from his most iconic films such as Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride, and Edward Scissorhands.
