The obsession with pumpkin patches and pumpkin picking as an autumnal pastime is becoming as essential as choosing your Christmas tree. Nothing gets you into the spooky spirit like choosing your own pumpkin to carve and trying every seasonal pumpkin spice item on the menu. This year @sammyjosbeautycase tried out a pumpkin makeup look and here are the results. For this look, she paired the Orange Werewolf Lenses with a green wig and incredible pumpkin body paint. She added a skeleton theme to double up on the Halloween essence. To see even more pumpkin patch people, check out our blog.
Topping the Halloween makeup trends is Frankenstein makeup. Whether you are turning into Frankenstein’s Monster or his bride, this fun makeup is perfect for any skill level. Keep it simple with tutorials like @ataramayhew’s in our Frankenstein blog or make it fancy like @ssipe_.
A range of contact lenses can be used in your Frankenstein makeup. A particular trend is to have two different eye colours to match the stitched patchwork effect of the makeup. For @rubymediamakeup’s classic green Frankenstein, she has added Black Halloween Coloured Contacts and has chosen a glam makeup style.
Alphabet makeup series have been popular at any time of the year since Instagram began. Choose your theme and away you go - it’s the perfect way to get out of a creative rut. This year @tapintotristen has been sharing a Halloween Alphabet series with some unique creations. Check out the incredible Angel makeup featuring our red Halloween contact lenses. She has been elevating her makeup looks with coloured contact lenses and we are in love.
No Halloween celebration would be complete without Pop Art Zombies but this year we have seen some fun themes including a Pumpkin Patch Zombie and Spider Zombie. Pop Art designs look great with bold contact lenses such as bright blue or green or you can enhance the look of the skeleton with white coloured contacts.
Coloured Contacts jumped on the colour trend with a ‘Halloween is..’ version. See some of our long-term affiliates showing off different coloured costumes including red, green and blue.
Every year with the October Halloween blockbusters comes a wave of costume inspiration from the characters in the movies. This year we had some epic sequels to iconic Halloween movies such as The Nun, The Exorcist and Saw. Check out our affiliates turning themselves into the spookiest of horror movie characters.
Not a new character, but one that has been part of many MUAs #31daysofhalloween for the first time is Babadook. @shaneffex’s Babadook reel was a hit with the awesome lip-syncing and amazing end result. For this look, he wore the White Manson Coloured Contacts.
@sfx_by_bry created an incredibly accurate costume of Valak, The Nun. In this side-by-side photo, you can see how closely she copied the movie character. We are seriously impressed by her talents and love how well the Yellow Angelic Lenses match the look.
Jigsaw is always a popular choice for Halloween as it is easy to DIY the costume and create the iconic mask/makeup. In 2023, Saw X was released; perhaps the most gruesome yet of the Saw series and along with it came Billy The Puppet.
@causeandfxmakeup is one of the MUAs who took on the challenge of creating Jigsaw. For this look, she added the Red Lunar Coloured Contact Lenses. Below, you can see @sammyjosbeautycase’s take on this villainous mastermind. For her costume, she chose the Akuma Target Lenses. Check out our blog to see more Jigsaw looks from previous years.
The Exorcist: Believer hit our screens in 2023 as did @lisaartistryy’s epic reel based on the original movie. This audio and her execution of it is flawless proving you can make your own horror movie scenes when you get creative. For this SFX costume, she wore the Red Crazy Clown Coloured Contact Lenses. Visit our blog to see even more reincarnations of Regan.
What an incredible Halloween roundup!?! Every year something new hits our Instagram feed, just when we think there can’t be any more characters left to explore. The trends and themes for Halloween 2023 have been truly epic, in part thanks to the amazing movie releases for this year but mostly due to the incredible talents of all the SFX MUAs sharing their work online. Our final shoutout is to @malrie who collaborated with us on this awesome try on video of our Halloween lenses, including costume ideas with some of the styles. Nothing beats being able to see how coloured contact lenses look in real life. Especially, when you are waiting until 31st October to try them out.
We will be sad to see the close of another Halloween season. It feels like it is over before it started! We have loved the incredible Halloween reels and makeup looks that have been filling up our Instagram feeds. Check out our #31daysofhalloween on our socials for a taster of what our affiliates and customers created for the spooky season.
