In this step-by-step video, you can see how @rainbowskinz created his Avatar Aang cosplay. Thanks to his amazing body painting skills, he was able to create Aang's outfit using only makeup! Try your own body paint cosplay with our range of SFX makeup.
When Aang uses his powers, his eyes glow white as he summons the spirit energy. @rainbowskinz has simulated this white glowing effect by wearing the White Blind Coloured Contact Lenses. These contact lenses have a white iris and pupil to completely blank out your eye. This does mean that vision is restricted so while it may not be the best choice for a full day at a Comic Con, the white blind contact lenses are perfect for an Aang cosplay photoshoot.
If you want to be able to quickly and easily put in your White Blind Lenses while you are out at an event such as Comic Con for a quick photoshoot, make sure to stock up on contact lens accessories. With items such as travel case kits, mirrors, lens inserters, and contact lens solution, you can easily ensure your contact lenses are properly prepared, stored, inserted and removed while on the go.
@theblakeover has created a fun Aang costume from vibrant orange and yellow material with a red sash. You can either start from scratch with material and could even use an old colourful sheet or dyed sheet. Alternatively, you can customise tops to create the iconic Avatar costume. Add light blue painted arrows to your skin to create Aang’s tattoos. You may want to add a bald cap to cover your hair if you are fully committed to creating an accurate Airbender costume. While Aang’s eyes glow white when he is using his powers, his normal eye colour is grey. For this cosplay, @theblakeover has opted for the Grey Blend Coloured Contacts Lenses which are suited to covering light eye colours. You can shop the full range of natural grey contact lenses to see other options. Our favourite lenses for creating Aang’s eyes include:
One of our favourite moments in the anime and live-action show of Avatar is when Aang meets Appa, the flying bison. Where would he be without his trusty sidekick? We can’t believe that @sammyjoartistry has brought this character to life with her amazing makeup skills. For her Appa cosplay, Sammy-Jo has used a white wig with accessories to transform into Appa as well as using fur-like brush strokes on her face and torso to create Appa’s fluff. Pair your Appa cosplay with brown contact lenses to get Appa’s gorgeous soulful eyes.
If you want to create your own Appa costume you can use your DIY sewing skills or buy an Appa onesie as a starting point for your costume. Paint your face to blend in with your costume and add ears to complete your transformation. Aang and Appa make the cutest besties cosplay duo.
