Plenty was happening in January with some things beginning and some things ending. We shared the last design from @makeupmadhouse’s Star Signs makeup series. See the full series, here.

February’s theme was love with St Valentine’s Day on everyone’s mind. @martaitken.artistry created an epic Valentine’s makeup series featuring all kinds of emotions from a broken heart to jealousy. Among all the romantic makeup looks, we loved seeing your alternative SFX ideas.
In March a new trend emerged for literal makeup art. MUAs turned themselves into their favourite works of art. Check out @courteneydunn_mua as Van Gough’s Starry Night.
@shannonkibblemua took on a surrealist piece of art by turning into Salvador Dali’s Broken Face. The White Blind Lenses were perfect for creating the eerie blanked out eye of this painting. Look at the original painting and you will be amazed by how accurately Shannon recreated it.
In April, we celebrated Easter with some awesome themed makeup transformations. We saw the Easter Bunny take on new forms and colours thanks to the talents of our affiliates and customers.
You proved that you love Halloween all year round. In April, @atarahmayhew’s Clown Makeup was one of your favourite looks. Clowns are such a great theme for a makeup series. Why not start your own series with our range of Manson lenses?
May was a big month for Coloured Contacts as we expanded our product range to include SFX makeup by Mehron. We talked to our affiliates and many of them love using Mehron to get professional results so it was a no-brainer to add it to our collection. We want to ensure our customers can grow their creative skills in cosplay, SFX makeup, glam makeup, drag and all other genres. Check out our SFX makeup range here.

The much-anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine was released in July and it seems to be a hit with fans. Our affiliates created incredible body paints and cosplays of the characters from the movie. Check out @riannashah.mua_’s amazing Lady Deadpool paint.
We also adored @charrar.b’s classic Wolverine cosplay and had to continue our Deadpool & Wolverine theme into August. We had to double-take - it is mind-blowing that this is a bodypaint! Check out more Deadpool and Wolverine looks in our blog.
At the very end of August, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was released and the Beetlejuice looks started rolling in during early September. The Ghost with the Most was painted and cosplayed in many iterations on our news feed including as a skull and a clown. @rubymediamakeup’s Beetlejuice clown is a must-see but we also love @hollymurraymakeup’s iconic Beetlejuice reel. Check out our blog to see even more looks.
Since the spooky season is our favourite time of year, we start unleashing the Halloween monsters early. In September, things start looking a little freaky with amazing SFX makeup looks and horror characters created by our affiliates. @makeupmadhouse created a fun tutorial using Mehron’s 3D Gel for you to enjoy. Check out the blog to find out more.
Halloween is by far our favourite time of year. Makeup artists get to unleash their talents all month long in challenges such as #31daysofhalloween. Certain characters will always be classic for this time of year.
There’s always a good dose of Tim Burton characters. If you are new to body painting, why not try one of these iconic looks or turn yourself into a new Tim Burton character? @atarahmayhew created classic Corpse Bride makeup featuring one of our favourite scenes.
We can’t go through the Halloween season without being scared by Pennywise. This year, @marinaeloise took on the challenge of creating this epic Horror movie villain.

And finally, the release of the new Art The Clown Terrifyer horror movie had this frightening clown popping up all over our Instagram to scare the living daylights out of us. @nickiteal created a particularly scary reel for this spine-shivering villain. There are so many more epic Halloween looks we would love to shout about but you will just have to check them all out for yourself over on our Instagram, @colouredcontacts.
