To get started with your Venetian makeup, you will need to create a clown white base. You can use products such as Mehron’s Clown White, white face paint or white foundation to create an even layer of coverage in the shape of a mask. You can have fun experimenting with different mask shapes to find the style that works best for you.
Next, we want to add some colour around the eyes. Carrie opts for a blend of brown, nude and purple powders. If you have a specific colour in your costume that you would like to highlight, your eyeshadow is the perfect place to bring it into your makeup. Alternatively, if you want to give the illusion of wearing a mask, you can use your foundation colour to represent cut-outs for the eyes. Carrie has extended the colour under her eyes to ensure it is a focal point.
To highlight her eyes, Carrie has added dramatic long eyelashes and a bold eyeliner wing. If you would like your Venetian mask makeup to have eyebrows then you can add a thin sweep on your brow using a brow pencil or eyeliner.
For your Venetian makeup, you can accentuate the lips by creating bow-shaped or heart-shaped lips. Carrie has painted a vibrant red exaggerated heart shape over a white base for a dramatic effect.
To complete the illusion of the Venetian mask, she has added small pearlescent beads around the outer edge of the mask. You can add shading or gems and sequins to create this effect.
With some practice, you will be able to create this simple yet effective Venetian mask makeup using a few makeup items.
Once you have finished your Venetian makeup, you are ready to insert your coloured contact lenses. Carrie has paired the White Phantom Coloured Contact Lenses with this makeup look.
